Cavalchina has belonged to the Piona family since the beginning of the century, and was registered as one of the top vineyards in the area as early as 1848. The first bottled vintage of Custoza was the 1962 . At first it was sold as Vino da Tavola as a cru of the area. It was not easy to introduce this type of 'high end' product onto the market at a time when there was more emphasis on quantity than on quality, and it was only in 1970 that it achieved full success. In the meantime, Bianco di Custoza was awarded DOC status.
This is a fresh, crisp, and superbly balanced white wine. Light straw yellow in color with zippy lemony citrus character softened by nuances of honeysuckle and light apple fruit. Lingering grassy and mineral elements lend distance to the finish.
