They are allowed 11.5 barrels, aim to make 9 and in 2021 managed a reasonable 7 of which three new. The bouquet is not yet ready to give up detail, though one senses a significant volume behind. And indeed, here it comes on the palate, a fine plump raspberry fruit with balanced acidity and tannin. Never the deepest Richebourg but perhaps among the most elegant.

Among the best wines made in the Clos this year, this wine shows pronounced aromas of ripe mulberry and plum with accents of earth and mineral. The substance and volume on the palate are astonishing for the vintage and complement the firm tannins and depth of fruit. Gros had us taste it after the Richebourg, and she was right. It is produced from her 80-year-old vines in Le Grand Maupertui, which yielded a gratifying 35hl/ha this year, more than most other sites.
