"Comte Armand’s 0.40-hectare parcel of Fremiets was first planted eighty years ago. In 2021, this was the only vineyard protected with candles, which did help in the end. The wine produced here has a lovely forward fruit with aromas of ripe raspberry with floral notes and a hint of smoke and spice. The texture is supple and silky, with balanced acidity, a velvety feel, and impressive length for the vintage.

"Here too there is a subtle but perceptible dollop of wood on the nose that is a bit more deeply pitched as well as noticeably spicier. There is excellent mid-palate density to the seductively rich, even suave and velvety, medium-bodied flavors that conclude in a vaguely sweet, balanced and long finale. This presently lacks a bit of nuance for my taste though I suspect that it will add more with age as Frémiets typically does just that. (Drink starting 2031)" 04/23
