100% Pinot Noir 12 monts long ageing in old casks
Nice purple color and shades of garnet for this hand picked Pinot Noir from Irancy. The nose offers a beautifull aromatic range of red fruits: redcurrant, cherry, blackcurrant. The mouth is greedy and silky and expresses cherry notes. No strong tannins for this Pinot Noir but a long lasting mouth with peppery and spicy notes.
Vézeley is situated on the river Cure, a tributary of the Yonne, and positioned halfway between Chablis and Beaune. Vines have been planted on the rocky outcrops here since Roman times but the outbreak of phylloxera in 1884 almost wiped them out completely and just a couple of hectares remained by the 1960s. However a few enterprising vignerons understood the opportunity to replant on the south facing slopes which have perfect stoney clay and limestone soils. The Vézeley appellation was finally created in 2017 for Chardonnay and today there are around 100 hectares planted of Chardonnay and also a little Pinot Noir.
