Gioventu - Chianti 2022 (750ml)
This small project by Michael Schmeltzer focuses on honest quality and Italian tradition. When I pull the cork and pour a glass, I'm immediately reminded of the authentic uncomplicated house wines I've drank on Italian soil. This wine is about fruit and earth and while it could be aged in an oak barrel, if it is, it's a totally neutral one. Sour black cherry, mushrooms, truffles and sous bois combine for an unmistakably Italian Tuscan thumbprint.
