The vineyards at Il Palazzone are all planted with Sangiovese Grosso, the grape that is known in Montalcino as Brunello. Think of this bottle as baby Brunello as it in fact comes from barrels of Brunello that were, in essence, declassified and from multiple vintages which is why this is marked as a non-vintage wine.
Vivacious, full-bodied Sangiovese Grasso from an esteemed Montalcino producer. It's made from a blend of vintages that did not make the final cut for Il Palazzone's Brunello di Montalicino so it's labeled non-vintage. If you are curious about which vintages specifically there is a lot number on the back of each bottle that you can check online. Think of this wine as a well-rehearsed under study. Not the marquee name, but you'll remember its performance nonetheless. The nose is filled with dried fruits, cherry sauce, soil, and espresso beans. It's supple on the palate, with a finely chiseled tannic structure. Phenomenal quality for the price of the bottle. This is a show stopper.
