High elevation and limestone soils mark Mt Carmel Vineyard out. The vines are dry-farmed and the result is wonderful: ripe fruit only just peeks though on the nose, an aromatic notion of ripe yellow apple with lemon brightness, surrounded by echoes of smoky hazelnut. The palate resprises this theme, and everything is still taut and dew-fresh, it seems. This is precise, concentrated and elegant; its considerable force is brought into enviable poise. (AK)
