Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
"Firmer and more structured than its Beaune neighbor, the 2017 Pommard 1er Cru Les Epenots exhibits notes of cherries, sweet plummy fruit and spices. Medium to full-bodied, the wine's supple attack segues into a youthfully chewy palate. There's some substance here, so it should reward a little bottle age."
Pierre Girardin Description
Pierre-Vincent Girardin is the son of Vincent Girardin, whose far-reaching contacts enabled him to produce stellar wines from estate-owned vines and contract growers alike. When the elder Girardin sold his domaine in 2011, he set aside about 5 hectares of prime vineyard holdings for his son, who’s come roaring out of the gate with a diverse range of impeccable wines. Drawing from an all-star roster of vineyard sites at every level of the Burgundy pyramid, Pierre is being hailed as one of Burgundy’s “young guns.”
