The 2022 Bourgogne Rouge Hautes-Cotes de Beaune is a blend from three hectares and represents a selection of the best bunches. The slightly rustic nose offers dark berry fruit, cracked black pepper and touches of graphite. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins. The absence of oak means that this has a kind of rawness that I really like, strangely, for the second time in my tasting, reminiscent of a cool red Loire. Very fresh with a graphite-tinged finish. This will shine on the dinner table.
Dark cherry fruit with black pepper, quite soft, attractive profile. Good pure red fruit, with lots of energy and vitality, black pepper and spice comes through on the finish. Lovely balance.
